CAHPERD STANDING COMMITTEES
STRATEGIC PLANNING COMMITTEE
WHO?
The Committee shall consist of a Chair and eight CAHPERD members,
including the President (Sue Chambers-Johnson), President-Elect
(Terry Rizzo), and the Executive Director (Quentin Christian),
the latter as an ex-officio, non-voting member. The Chair shall
be appointed by the President with the approval of the Board of
Directors and shall serve a three-year term. A Chair-elect shall
be appointed in the third year of the Chair’s term of office. Appointment
to membership on the committee shall be made by the President based
upon recommendations from the Strategic Planning Committee. Vacancies
resulting in incomplete terms of service shall be filled by Presidential
appointment. Each member, with the exception of the Presidents,
shall serve staggered three (3) year terms.
WHAT?
The purpose of the Strategic Planning Committee is to insure
adherence to CAHPERD’s Mission and implementation of
the goals, objectives and strategies contained in the Long
Range Plan designed to guide CAHPERD’s future direction.
Implementation is based on available time, people and other
resources. Actions of this committee will reflect the goals
of the Strategic Plan document which are professional development,
communication and diversity. Implementation shall include

Annually review goals and objectives
of the Strategic Plan and make needed recommendations to the
Board of Directors and the House of Delegates.

Prioritize goals and objectives of the Strategic
Plan and match them to a feasible and attainable time frame.

Consult with the Administrative Committee to
determine the financial implication of current projects in
terms of meeting the goals and objectives of the projects.

Present specific project(s) to meet selected goals
and assist in completing the project(s).

Evaluate all proposed projects and report findings
with recommendations to the Board of Directors and the House
of Delegates.
WHEN?
The Committee meets twice a year, with one being held at the Annual
Conference.
