Prevention First School Health Team Newsletter - 9th Issue
Dear School Health Supporters,
I am pleased to present to you the ninth issue (Link Above) of the Prevention First School Health Team newsletter. This issue includes articles that address the hazards of energy drinks, potential funding for physical education and physical activity through the Every Student Succeeds Act, the Rethink Your Drink: statewide day of action, and information regarding May as National Bike Month.
As you may know, Prevention First (PF) is the name of a cooperative agreement, financed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, that includes a focus on improving student health. Enhancing student health, in turn, supports improved academic achievement and student attendance at school. The school health PF team includes Andrew Manthe, MPH, CHES, (Comprehensive School Physical Activity Programs); Linda Cowling, MPH, RD, (School Nutrition); Sophia Mercado (Safe Routes to School); and Marianne Hernandez, MS, (Rethink Your Drink).
